Activities
With the Watagan Mountains looking down at you from the west and Lake Macquarie waiting for you in the east, Watagan Park really is in the heart of Nature’s Playground. The Watagan Mountains are home to many picnic spots, lookouts, camping areas, walking trails and for the more adventurous there’s abseiling for all levels and 4WD tracks. Lake Macquarie is Australia’s largest coastal salt-water lake and is twice the size of Sydney Harbour. It’s home to an array of water activities for all families including kayaking, water-skiing, paddle boarding, sailing and the lake has long been alluring anglers with the promise of a bountiful catch. Dora Creek boat ramp is also only a short 10min drive away. Watagan Park is only a 30min drive from the historical Catherine Hill Bay Beach where the Surf Life Saving Club runs Nippers every Sunday morning for the water-baby families. Tucked in the Munmorah State Conservation Area is Frazer Park, a local surf-break surrounded by nature.
Community & Planned Facilities At Watagan Park we live for a peaceful, safe and worry-free lifestyle, and community is an important part of that. We have designed Watagan Park with integrating thoroughfares that connect each area of the community so residents can be outside building conversations with neighbours. Playing fields, a cricket pitch, a skate park, a primary school, an early learning centre, a community centre and commercial precinct will all be home to Watagan Park for families to enjoy in the future.
Education Education is important at any age and at Watagan Park we have your family covered for every milestone. Avondale School (which caters for K-12 along with the Avondale Early Learning Centre for 3-5 year olds), Cooranbong Valley Community pre-school, Little Miracles pre-school, Cooranbong Public School, St John Vianney Primary School, Heritage Collage (K-12), Morisset High School and Avondale College, for when it’s time to get that tertiary education, are all just moments away.
Transport Only 7min to the M1 and 8min to Morisset train station, getting where you want to go is easy from Watagan Park. You can be at Central Station in less than two hours or at the end of the freeway in 50min. The Gosford turnoff is only 25min away and if you’re heading north you’ll be at the Newcastle exit in 22min.
Shops Convenient shopping is a must and Watagan Park is close by to everything you need. There are future plans for a new Coles that will be located in the centre of Cooranbong. The area is also known for its local growers – so you can pick up delicious seasonal fruit and vegetables practically at your doorstep. Avondale Village is only a 2min drive away and has all the basic necessities including; post office, café, grocery & general store, chemist and take-away shop. The town center of Morisset is an 8min drive – within the shopping centers and on the main street you’ll have access to a wide variety of shops including; Coles, Woolworths, banks, cafés, video stores, restaurants, hair dressers, dry cleaners and take-away shops. The Bay Shopping Centre is located in the heart of Bonnells Bay, which is a 13min drive away – a great place to stop off and grab a coffee or do some shopping. It is host to Coles supermarket, a range of specialty shops and the famous Bay Hotel Motel.
